According to our Hindu Panchang Lakshmi Panchami Tithi, which falls during the Chaitra Shukla paksha, is also known as Kalpadi Tithi or Shri Panchami. On this day, the Goddess of wealth, Maa Laksmi, is worshipped to seek abundant prosperity, strength, valour, good health, knowledge and financial growth. This day falls under the fifth day of Chaitra Navaratri. Devotees observe fast and worship Goddess Lakshmi to seek her love and blessings.
The Holy Significance Behind Lakshmi Panchami 2025
During samudra manthan (sea-churning process) there was a huge battle between Gods (Devtas) and Demons (Asuras). Both parties participated in the Samudra Manthan process intending to seek Amrit ( the nectar of immortality). The churning of the sea started with upholding Vasuki ( serpent) as a rope and Mountain Mandara as the churning rod. Shri Hari Vishnu also participated in the form of a Kurma (turtle) Avtar. This avatar is among the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu. It eventually served as the base of the mountain.

Among the holy objects that emerged out of the ocean was the lethal poison (Halahal Vish) which was consumed by Lord Shankar. Whereas, there was one such jewel that obtained form the ocean which was Goddess Lakshmi sitting on the lotus surface. She served as an epitome of wealth, beauty and prosperity. - Adi Lakshmi
Adi Lakshmi is the first form of Goddess Lakshmi. She is seen seated on a pink lotus with a pot full of gold. The gold-filled pot can be seen titled and falling on the ground. Adi Lakshmi has four hands.
One in Abhaya Mudra shows a fearless nature, other in Varada Mudra offers a boon. The third holding a lotus symbolising survival of good in the dark whereas the fourth hand having a flag indicates the complete surrender to the divine power. Adi Laksmi bestows her devotees with good health, and eternal health and helps attain moksha.
- Dhana Lakshmi
Dhanya Lakshmi is the eternal form of Goddess Lakshmi. She is depicted with six hands with conch in one hand, elixer in another, bow and arrow. Whereas lotus is in one hand, holding a tilted gold pot in the other and the last hand is in Abhaya mudra.
Alternatively, she is seen sitting on a lotus draped with jewellery all over. Dhana Lakshmi blesses her devotees with grace, power, ability to work hard and financial stability.
- Dhanya Lakshmi
Dhanya Lakshmi is the Goddess seen carrying sugarcane, bananas and paddy crops in her hand. The picture of Dhanya Lakshmi portrays a beautiful goddess dressed in green with each hand. Each hand contains different elements.

- Gaja Lakshmi
Gaja Lakshmi is the representation of glory, authority and strength. She is worshipped as a bestower of royalty and wealth. The beautiful goddess arrives with male and female elephants showering water on her. She is seen sitting on a graceful lotus flower. The four hands have two lotus flowers in them, one has a Varada mudra while the other with Abhaya Mudra.

- Santana Lakshmi
Santana Lakshmi holds a child in her arms. Santana means the Goddess who bestows her devotees with a child. She takes care of children and boons mothers with fertility. The goddess has six hands. Two holding a pitcher, one with a baby, the other with a sword, one hand with a shield and the last one in Abhaya mudra. She demonstrates the anger of a protective mother shielding her child. Alongside she also provides warmth and care to her child. Satana Lakshmi is also known as the guardian of family heritage.
- Veera Lakshmi
Veera Lakshmi is the goddess of Valor inner strength and courage. She is also referred to as Dhairya Lakshmi. Maa Veera Lakshmi appears in an enchanting form. She is covered with gold ornaments with eight hands. Each hand has different weapons like now and arrow, shield, sword, trident, conch, palm leaf scriptures, Abhaya and Varada mudras. Worshipping her will remove all the negativity in life and help them overcome all the obstacles and life challenges.
- Vidya Lakshmi
Vidya Lakshmi is the goddess of knowledge. She brings spiritual wisdom, clears insecurity, and self-doubts and brings confidence into people’s lives. Glorified with jewellery this goddess is shown with four hands. Each hand possesses two lotus, abhaya and Varad Mudras. She enhances one’s academic success, increases intellect, brings focus, and understanding and helps with personal development.
- Vijaya Lakshmi
Vijaya means Victory. She is the Goddess of victory, valour, inspiration and hope. The goddess is seen wearing red cloth, sitting on a lotus and covered with flowers all over. She has eight hands. One has a noose, the other has a lotus, two of them with shield and sword each. One in Abhaya and Varada Mudra and the last one holding a conch.
Rituals to be performed on Lakshmi Panchami 2025
- One must wake up early in the morning during Bhrama Muhurt time (3 to 5:30)
- Take a bath and wear clean clothes before performing any ritual
- Prepare the idols of Lord Ganesh and Maa Lakshmi of any form you want to worship.
- If you have Shri Yantra keep it alongside the idols.
- Perform Panchamrit Abhishekam by mixing pure cow’s milk, ghee, sugar, honey and yoghurt in a clean bowl.
- Light 5 wick ghee lamp near the idol.
- Offer lotus flowers along with coconut to Maa Lakshmi’s idol.
- Alongside keep durva grass, sandalwood, flowers, banana leaves, red thread, rice and Dakshina.
- Also offers five metals, grains and coloured powder.
- Light incense sticks.
- Recite Laksmi stotras, shastranama and beej mantra alon with special mantras like ऊँ ह्रीं ह्रीं श्री लक्ष्मी वासुदेवाय नमः , ॐ ऐं ह्रीं क्रौं श्रीं स्यै नम: and ॐ श्रीं ह्रीं क्लीं श्री सिद्ध लक्ष्मी नम:
- Fast for the day and give food to brahmins with small dakshina amounts.
- Eat only fruits, sweets and drink milk during the fasting time.

Lakshmi Panchami 2025 Vrat Katha
As per our Vedic texts, one day Goddess Lakshmi got very upset. She decided to go to the Ksheer Sagar. Due to her departure all the God and Goddess became devoid of wealth, prosperity and necessary resources for survival. Lord Indra, the king of all God performed penance to please Goddess Lakshmi. Following this other gods and goddess also performed penance and observed vrata.
